Harry Kane spent 19 years at Tottenham Hotspur before joining Bayern Munich in the last window. Before moving to Germany, the 30-year-old was linked with a few Premier League sides and Real Madrid.

Former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente has told AS that Kane would have been ideal for the La Liga side.

The Spaniard, who had spells at several clubs including Athletic, Juventus, Swansea City, Spurs and Napoli in the past, announced his retirement earlier this year.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side host the Serie A winners in the Champions League and ahead of the tie, AS spoke to Llorente to preview the European clash.

The 38-year-old says Los Blancos are missing a world class striker and when asked about Kane, he said: “He would have been ideal. He was the perfect signing for Real Madrid.”

The former Swansea man spent two years at Tottenham between 2017 and 2019, where he played alongside the England international. He believes Real Madrid backed out from a deal for Kane because of the demands set by Spurs, led by their chairman, Daniel Levy.

“He’s a phenomenon. Maybe Madrid thought they [Tottenham] were asking for too much money because of his age, but I had no doubts about his performance because I have seen him up close and I know what he is capable of. He would have been the perfect striker for Madrid,” Llorente explained.

Bayern reportedly paid €100m to Tottenham and that’s paid off as Kane has managed 22 goals and seven assists so far this season.
