Chelsea have a deal with Corinthians to sign Gabriel Moscardo, according to claims from Brazil.
The information comes from former player Neto, and current pundit, who’s the host of Band’s show Os Donos da Bola.
“Moscardo was sold to Chelsea. That’s information I have. That’s why he didn’t play.
“Chelsea play what? Premier League. Who runs the Premier League? Kia. Who runs the Premier League? Giuliano Bertolucci.
“This is the information I have. It may not be true. But it’s hard for me to make mistakes.”
Like Neto himself says, he’s not a journalist and probably not the most reliable person in the Brazilian media, but he does have enough connections to bring such news on live television.
Recent reports from reliable outlets in the local press claimed that Chelsea recently placed a bid for Moscardo, and Corinthians would make a decision after their presidential elections.
That voting took place at the weekend, so if everything is going according to plan, the new president already has the power to say whether the midfielder is being sold or not.
The news about the bid did not say how much Chelsea are offering. Neto claims the player is moving for around £21m.
We’ll keep waiting for other such outlets to have a say on this case, but given how long this chase has been on, it wouldn’t be a big surprise.
