Marc Roca has been enjoying a prominent role at Leeds United since he arrived at Elland Road from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

The midfielder spent two seasons with the Bundesliga winners but struggled to enjoy more game time in Germany.

That has changed since he moved to Leeds as Jesse Marsch has started the 25-year-old in all the league matches this season. He has scored one goal in the process, which came in his side’s 5-2 defeat against Brentford.

The Spaniard appeared as a guest on Marca’s program, Fish&Twitch, and his comments are relayed in today’s edition of the newspaper.

Leeds sporting director Victor Orta was decisive in bringing his compatriot to the Premier League. Roca detailed this when asked what role the chief had in his signing.

“It was important when making the decision. I saw how he [Orta] understood football and his style, his ideas fit me… It was key to see that he believed in me,” Roca said.

“Although there was a La Liga club, the salary limit meant that it did not materialise. And Leeds appeared, with a proposal to grow together. It is one of the best decisions of my career. A personal challenge.”

Leeds have sold Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively in the last window and also made several additions to their squad. Roca had his say on the new signings when asked about his goal.

“Orta always says that selling well is growing. The signings have fit in well and we are a young team, hungry. Leeds are a sleeping giant that we are gradually awakening,” he added.
