Club Brugge striker Bas Dost has hailed Manchester City and Manchester United stars Kevin de Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes, having played with both at various points in his career.

De Bruyne and Fernandes are currently two of the best midfielders in Europe, having starred for their clubs in recent years.

The Belgian midfielder has been a key part of Manchester City’s success since his arrival from Wolfsburg back in 2015.

He’s now considered one of the best players in the world, with an assist record that is the envy of every big club, and indeed player, in the game.

Fernandes, meanwhile, has become a world-class star since arriving at Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020.

Since that point, he has racked up goals and assists freely, with many believing he will be the key man to lead United back to the top of the game.

Bas Dost had the pleasure of playing with both before their arrivals at Manchester City and Manchester United, respectively, with his best seasons as a player coming when he played in front of either player.

He, then, knows all about how good they are and detailed as much in a recent interview with Sport/Foot.

“I depend on the players around me and my supply, but that’s the case for many footballers,” he said.

“Fernandes also needed teammates who could initiate actions or create gaps. De Bruyne was an exception. Extremely good.

“He created his own chances and spaces. He always delivered the right pass. Not many players can do that.

“When you see him on TV, you think it’s logical, but believe me, it’s not. World class. And he’s got even better at Manchester City.”
