Chelsea earned themselves a 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening, in the first leg of their Champions League match against Real Madrid.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were impressive and have received praise from sections of the Spanish media, with it believed the Blues should probably have found the back of the net more than once.

That’s a sentiment shared around the European sport media, with striker Timo Werner receiving widespread criticism for his early miss against Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Thankfully for Antonio Rudiger, that’s not what he was asked about when Sky Italia managed a word with him after the draw in Madrid. The defender was instead asked about Thursday’s Europa league match between AS Roma, one of his former clubs, and Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Rudiger gave an answer which will cheer the fans of the Serie A club, quoted by TMW as saying: “I played for Roma and I wish them the best, I hope they beat United and go to the final.”

Manchester United are favourites to progress, and Roma will have to pull off a surprise to go through.
