There’s no doubt that Romelu Lukaku’s departure from Chelsea was the biggest saga of the summer, as the player negotiated with several Italian clubs before signing for AS Roma.
The talks between the Blues and Inter Milan were well known, with the Nerazzurri engaging in a serious negotiation to have the striker, until he was found out speaking to other clubs.
It turns out that as AS Roma Live today feature some quotes from Edin Dzeko’s interview with Amazon Prime, the Bosnian claims he only moved this summer because of Lukaku.
“I would have gladly stayed at Inter, I was fine. Given the choice made on me, I thought it was a move to give Lukaku more confidence,” Dzeko told Amazon Prime.
“Having a player as, let’s say, important as me could have bothered him and he might not have played every game as a starter. That’s why I was surprised that Romelu didn’t go to Inter in the end’.
Dzeko ended up having a great start for Fenerbahce so far, with six goals and five assists in eight matches, and the Turkish side are probably quite glad about the situation.
Lukaku, meanwhile, has one goal in two appearances, and is set to return to Chelsea at the end of the season in case Roma don’t buy him.
