Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ‘wants to return to England’, with Sheffield United and Southampton two potential options for him.
That’s according to Sabah, who say Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to leave Beşiktaş and make a return to English football.
They report that Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to get away from Beşiktaş in the January transfer window but has so far struggled to ‘find the offers’ he previously received in the summer transfer window.
That means the search is ongoing at this moment in time, with Southampton and Sheffield United seen as potential options after he was linked to them at the beginning of the season.
A return to England is the priority for the 31-year-old, who has already turned down loan offers from Eyüpspor, Antalyaspor and Hatayspor.
Whether Southampton, his former club who sit bottom of the Premier League, or Sheffield United, who sit top of the Championship, can satisfy his desire remains to be seen.
Beşiktaş are certainly open to letting him leave as they want to open up space in the club’s foreign quota and any exit for Oxlade-Chamberlain would allow them to potentially make move in the January transfer window themselves.
