Following all the mess at the weekend during the match between Brazil and Argentina, it’s now time for other national teams to become worried about the situation.

People who have been in the United Kingdom are supposed to quarantine when landing in Brazil, and since that was ignored by Emiliano Buendia, Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso, that match was suspended.

So since Uruguay have a match against the Brazilians in October, they worry about the possibility of Manchester United star Edinson Cavani missing that game. That was commented on by AUF’s vice-president Gaston Tealdi in an interview with Futbol.

“That is handled by the coaching staff and sports management. They are talking directly with the sports management of Brazil and seeing the authorisations that are necessary,” said Tealdi.

“The steps are being taken and eventually it will be the coaching staff that will make a decision.”

Edinson Cavani had his call-up cancelled by Uruguay for the current international break. According to the national team staff, it wouldn’t be worth it to bring him to South America in a period when he wasn’t fully fit, as he’d also need quarantine when returning to the United Kingdom, and that would delay him reaching his best form.

Now with a different situation in the international break next month, Uruguay will be watching FIFA’s actions regarding what’s happening in Brazil.

Uruguay are facing Colombia, Argentina and Brazil in the next fixtures. So in case Cavani can’t play that last game, that’d probably result in an early return to Manchester United, and a bigger chance for the Red Devils to have him ready sooner.
