With 6 goals and 6 assists in 12 appearances this season, Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho has steered Liverpool to the top of the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has changed gears this season, and that has led to a lot of speculation about his future on Merseyside.

Over the past few days, Coutinho has been linked to several top European clubs, including Barcelona, Paris-Saint Germain and Real Madrid.

We’ve covered Real Madrid’s interest in Coutinho, with reports in Spain claiming Zidane is a big fan of the Liverpool star, and wants him at Santiago Bernabeu.

According to a latest report on Spanish website Ok Diario, Zidane can’t stop smiling just thinking about the possibility of signing Philippe Coutinho.

The same Spanish website earlier reported the Real Madrid boss is in love with the Coutinho, and could replace James Rodriguez with the Brazilian.

Ok Diario make it clear that Coutinho is the priority for Real Madrid next summer, and go on to explain how the Brazilian could be the equivalent of Isco and Rodriguez combined.

It’s stated Coutinho has technical abilities as good as Isco, if not better, and could also match Rodriguez with his shooting abilities.

The Spanish website reckon Coutinho could be a perfect fit for Real Madrid, as they’ve missed a player like him in recent years.

That’s all good stuff, but with Real Madrid facing a transfer ban, which may be delayed. it could be complicated in practice. The Merseyside club are at the top of the standings, and Jurgen Klopp’s team are favourites to qualify for the Champions League next season, if not competing for the title.

Klopp has made it very clear that Liverpool should keep Coutinho at all costs, so it’s a unlikely they’ll consider selling him in the near future, unless the player himself really pushed for it.
