Southampton were linked with a move for Juventus’ Matías Soulé in the winter market and are still in the picture to sign him.

On February 27th, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the Saints would need a big offer to secure his services, without mentioning any figures.

Calciomercato now provide more on the price tag and Southampton’s interest in the 20-year-old, who’s currently on loan at Frosinone.

The Championship side are fourth in the table, five points behind second placed Leeds United, with a game in hand.

It’s said Russel Martins’ side want to wow their fans by signing the winger, if they were to return to the Premier League. In that case, Calciomercato say this will be a ‘sensational coup’ for Southampton.

Al-Ittihad failed to sign the Argentina U20 international after they tabled a €25m offer in January. This figure is no longer enough as Juve currently value him at €40m, although that would surely be the high starting point.

The Old Lady are set to hold talks with his representative and their aim is try and get the best possible deal, to improve their finances. Juve could also use Soulé to lower Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners’ asking price.

Southampton’s Carlos Alcaraz joined Juve on loan with a buying option set at €49.5m. Last month, Calciomercato stated the Turin club could use Soulé as part of the deal to reduce the fee needed to buy Alcaraz.

Either way, Southampton have to be promoted back to the Premier League to sign Soulé.
