Turkish newspaper Takvim claim Sheffield United are interested in signing Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida, who has also been linked with a move to Aston Villa in recent weeks.

We covered initial reports from Turkey that Villa are looking to sign the Croatian this month, but Takvim today report fellow Premier League club Sheffield United are also in the picture for the 30 year old.

It’s reported Blades officials will hold talks with Besiktas very soon as they want to strengthen their squad in this transfer window.

Chris Wilder’s side have been defying expectations in the Premier League this season and they look likely to maintain their topflight status.

Signing Vida would be an unusual piece of business for Sheffield United and Takvim report Besiktas’ decision whether to sell will be decisive in any deal. However, the Yorkshire side will need to act quickly following reports Aston Villa have already tabled a bid for the player.

Vida’s contract with the Super Lig side will expire at the end of June 2022 and they may be be tempted to sell him so they can bring in new recruits.
