Despite publicly declaring his desire to stay at Marseille next season, Bouna Sarr hasn’t been able to avoid being the subject of transfer rumours.

Following Leicester City’s interest in January, Monday saw Wolverhampton Wanderers linked with the makeshift right-back thanks to Espoirs du Foot, who also explained Nuno Espirito Santo was interested in the Ligue 1 side’s midfielder Franck Zambo Anguissa.

Of course, having an interest in a player doesn’t necessarily mean a bid will be made, and we made it clear that it would take quite a lot to convince any Marseille player to leave in the summer with European football on offer there next season.

Then again, this hasn’t stopped Tuttosport in Italy claiming that Torino have joined the race to sign Bouna Sarr after Nicolas N’Koulou suggested the name to Walter Mazzarri.

This, technically, means the Serie A club are competition for Wolves, with the Italian newspaper claiming Marseille would probably accept an offer of around €8-9m (which we thoroughly disagree with).

It doesn’t help that Tuttosport seem to think Bouna Sarr is a central midfielder when he’s spent most of his career playing as a right winger before being pushed back to right-back by Rudi Garcia this season.

On top of that, they claim the player has expressed the desire to try a more competitive league were Marseille to fail in their attempts for Champions League qualification, which is pretty much the exact opposite of what he said.

Unless the Ligue 1 club force him out, which doesn’t appear to be on the cards at the moment, it seems Bouna Sarr is likely to stay in the south of France next season, regardless of who comes knocking. Even Wolves.
