Signing permanently for SPAL in the summer after a successful loan spell there, Alfred Gomis is doing his best to make sure the ball doesn’t up in the back of his net for the Serie A side.

With the side currently 14th, conceding just 10 goals in nine games, things aren’t going too badly, and he’s trying to impress enough to earn himself a transfer to the Premier League down the line, preferably to Arsenal.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old admitted that one of his dreams was to play at the Emirates, and since dreams become goals in football, that’s what he’s aspiring to.

He said: “My future? My wish would be Arsenal. I’ve loved the English team since I was a kid.”

Since Unai Emery recently signed Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen for around £22.5m, it’s fair to say the 24-year-old is expected to be handed the baton from Petr Cech once the former Chelsea goalkeeper hands up his boots (gloves?), but there could be a space behind the German.

Never say never in football.

As well as featuring regularly for SPAL, Gomis has four Senegal caps to his name, most recently featuring during the international in a double win against Sudan.
