Calciomercato have a short, very short, article on West Ham United’s search for a striker.

After links with AS Roma’s Edin Dzeko, the Italian media have convinced themselves that West Ham are looking to sign a striker in the January transfer window, and now they’ve brought Olivier Giroud into the equation as well.

Dzeko links started when the former Manchester City striker spoke fondly of his time in English football and wouldn’t rule out a return. That led to endless links with a group of clubs, and eventually west Ham were pushed out ahead, likely because of their spending during the summer window.

Giroud would perhaps be a more likely signing, on the condition that Chelsea buy another striker. They were linked with Dzeko themselves in the winter 2018 transfer window, but the player wasn’t especially keen.

The Italian media still link Chelsea with a possible move for Gonzalo Higuain, as well as several others in Serie A, so that would look the more plausible route for West Ham.
