It’s been ten days since Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Club Brugge, which got all the attention when the Belgian side opened a 2-0 lead at the Santiago Bernabeu.

This game continues to be a topic in the Spanish press, with things getting more controversial, as Catalan outlet Sport brings a story about what happened to Thibaut Courtois during half time.

The goalkeeper was brought off due to illness, but according to the report he didn’t want to go back to the pitch anyway. His stomach problems didn’t stop him from starting the game, and shouldn’t have been an issue for the second half, unless he had some other reason not to play.

Sport says Courtois had a ‘enormous anger’ over the way he’s being treated and targeted since he’s arrived at Real Madrid.

Even though he’s a starter for a club who are on top of the league table and is the goalkeeper with least goals conceded, he feels like there’s been a ‘campaign’ against him in Spain, both in and out of the club.

That’s why he didn’t play last weekend, and is now having some time away as he plays for Belgium during the international break. Sport says Real Madrid still bet on him, despite the controversial situation.

These claims come from a Catalan newspaper, so despite Sport insisting this is their own sourced information, there’s always the possibility of a motivation to wobble things further at Real Madrid.
