Already securing the services of Ianis Hagi permanently for next season, Rangers have turned their attention to the centre of midfield for their next move.
That is what L’Equipe are reporting on Friday, as the French newspaper claim Steven Gerrard’s side are interested in Haris Belkebla.
The 26-year-old, who currently plays for Stade de Brest, still has two years on his contract with the Ligue 1 side, meaning they aren’t in any particular rush to get rid of him.
The midfielder is described as having had a ‘consistent’ season and made 23 appearances in the league for them, helping them reach a comfortable 14th spot in the league before the French government pulled the plug on the 2019-20 campaign.
L’Equipe explain Rangers have ‘manifested themselves’ and could ‘quickly make an offer’ for the Algeria international, although they don’t say how much the Ibrox club would be willing to put forward.
If they do, however, they will face competition from newly promoted RC Lens, who have ‘also taken information’ regarding Belkebla.
