On Saturday we stumbled upon a claim in Italy that Leeds United are interested in Gianluigi Buffon, and felt almost guilty about sharing it with the world.

The story, from Corriere della Sera, claimed the Championship club are trying to sign the 41 year old, along with Fluminense and Porto.

That was it, and it then all rippled out around the world sport media.

On Sunday, CdS didn’t say anything on the matter.

On Monday, they’re totally back on it and going strong. This time it’s not just a sentence at the bottom of an article about something else, it gets its own article, and some information is added.

Porto and Leeds are the ‘two most concrete options’ for the goalkeeper right now.

The Portuguese club have the advantage, with Champions League football and a need to replace Iker Casillas.

But the possibility to ‘dive into another world’ at Leeds isn’t ruled out.

Interest from Qatar in buying the club is mentioned as a factor. PSG’s owners have recently been linked with investing at Elland Road, and they already have good Buffon contacts from his time at the French club.

The whole thing still feels very unlikely.
