Ange Postecoglou is still ‘deciding’ on whether he wants Giovani Lo Celso at Tottenham moving forwards, with Barcelona waiting on his decision as they eye a move.

That’s according to Sport, who say the Argentine remains a potential option for them as they look to add a creative midfielder to Xavi’s squad.

The newspaper explains that while other positions are being looked at, it does not change the need to bring in an offensive minded midfielder to the Nou Camp.

The dream target is Bernardo Silva, but he would cost a pharaonic amount and Manchester City don’t want to sell him anyway.

That deal is hard to get over the line, particularly given the cost, and so Barcelona are looking at alternative options. Lo Celso is one of them.

He’s returned to Tottenham this summer after a few years out on loan and has been a big part of pre-season under Postecoglou, hinting he may have a future at the club.

That’s something the Australian coach is yet to make a definitive choice on, though, with Sport reporting that he is still ‘deciding’ what to do with the midfielder.

He wanted to see the Argentine in pre-season before making a decision on him and Barcelona are still waiting on that to happen. When it does, they will be ready to make their move.

The reality is that August is a long month, particularly in terms of the transfer window, so anything could happen before it closes.

They see the Tottenham man as a ‘market opportunity’ and Xavi would like to have him but the chances of it happening rest solely on Postecoglou.
