On Tuesday, we explained the rumour linking Guilherme Arana to Leeds United.

The information saying the Whites were bidding €23m for the Atlético Mineiro fullback, crediting a report from Goal which did not exist, had been quickly spread through Twitter and Whatsapp at the time.

So we pointed out that the actual piece couldn’t be found anywhere, and added that Ricardo Alencar, who went after more information, learned from the Brazilian club that there was ‘absolutely nothing’ going on for the move.

However, it turned out that on Wednesday, a journalist from TNT Sports simply used the information and said it on their live stream, with the outlet’s social media account now sharing the claims with their four million followers.

So although many fans pointed out that the story was fake, most people did not know about it and believed the claims. And that’s why it’s time to dismiss it again.

It’s now Goal Brasil reporter Thiago Fernandes picking up the sledgehammer, and he didn’t even bother writing a piece about it. On Twitter, he simply claims that Guilherme Arana’s staff have not even had any contact from Leeds.

As we said before, Arana is a player with a lot of potential, having done great this year, and it would be no surprise to see him moving to Europe for something close to the amount mentioned. The Elland Road move, however, doesn’t seem to be happening, at least for now.
