Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic is having his medical at Manchester City now ahead of his move to the Etihad.

That’s according to journalist Rudy Galetti, who says the midfielder will sign a long-term contract with the treble champions once his medical is done.

Kovacic has been linked with a move to Manchester City over the last few weeks as they set about adding to Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season.

The Croatian has been targeted as a direct replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, whose contract is expiring at the end of this month and is expected to leave.

A deal with Chelsea has been progressing steadily over this week and Galetti now reports that Kovacic is undergoing a medical at his new club ahead of finalising the move.

He reports that once the Chelsea man has completed this medical, he will sign a ‘long-term contract’ with Manchester City and officially be a Citizen.

The journalist makes no mention of the transfer fee involved, contract details or anything of that nature, just that this transfer is very much in the final stages.
