West Brom have been chasing Matheus Pereira since mid July, and have faced several problems getting a deal done for the Sporting player.

Now, they can put all that behind them, as Record report the player is travelling to England to sign for the Championship club.

It’s made clear he’s already set off from Lisbon, and there’s no doubt put on the situation or destination, with the Baggies being the only club mentioned.

Record treat the move as fact and say the Brazilian will be loaned to West Brom for the rest of the season, and the club will then have a buying option of €9.5m. The figures are less than what Sporting had originally wanted the English club to agree to.

Given he’s from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Pereira would have needed a work permit which could have scuppered the deal. However, Record say the 23 year old winger received a Portuguese passport on Wednesday, which has enabled him to complete the move.

He moved to Portugal as a youngster, and joined Sporting’s academy at 14 years of age.
