AC Milan have been constantly linked with Dejan Lovren, while AS Roma have reportedly joined the transfer race as they view the Liverpool defender as an alternative to Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld.

On July 30th, we relayed news from Italy that one of the Croatia international’s representatives, Bjorn Bezemer, was expected to meet the Rossoneri leaders to discuss his client.

TuttoMercatoWeb now states Marco Giampaolo’s side will meet with the former Southampton man’s intermediaries later on Thursday.

It’s claimed the Reds ‘could decide’ to sanction the farewell after deadline day. The Premier League transfer window closes on August 8th, but clubs will still be able to sell players to Italian sides.

Liverpool’s idea is to raise €15m from Lovren’s potential sale. However, the 30-year-old currently makes €4.5m per season at Anfield and Milan are having an issue to match it.

TMW explain Milan’s proposal would be a three-year deal with an option to further extend it by a year, worth just over €3m-a-season.

It remains to be seen if Lovren will accept Milan’s offer or not, and then what would happen over a transfer fee.
