Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia and his fine displays had convinced him to make another approach in the summer.
Earlier on Thursday, we covered claims made by both Radio Marca and AS that explained Spurs have decided against letting Gil join Los Ches since they couldn’t manage to sign anyone in his position.
Super Deporte now state the 21-year-old has been ‘trapped’ at Tottenham all summer, waiting for his return to the Mestalla to materialise.
The north London club initially demanded a fee to sell him and then wanted to bring in a replacement to let go of him. The player knows with almost total certainty that his return to Valencia will not take shape today.
Although it is ‘very difficult to change Tottenham’s mind’, Valencia won’t give up. As per the report, Gennaro Gattuso’s side ‘will reactivate’ the operation to sign Gil in the ‘last few hours’ of the window.
Valencia will clearly have to hurry up.
