After brief links to Roma and reports from Belgium that Adnan Januzaj’s entourage wanted him to leave Manchester United for good, it appears the young forward is about to get his wish.
On Wednesday, the French website report the Red Devils and the La Liga side have agreed on an €11m fee, which, with one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, isn’t a bad deal at all.
Unlike most transfers these days, it appears the fee has been negotiated first, with the player’s contract at Real Sociedad still being discussed.
However, and it’s a big one, France Football claim that Manchester United have included a priority clause in the deal for the next three years, meaning they would be notified if offers were to arrive at Real Sociedad for the next three summer transfer window, and therefore get a chance to match them.
We say it’s a big one because the last article from Belgium (linked above) on the situation claimed that Januzaj’s entourage had agreed his time at Manchester United was over and were refusing the idea of a buy-back clause being inserted into any deal.
While a priority option isn’t a buy-back clause, it’s certainly an advantage for Manchester United regarding a potential return, which doesn’t seem to be what the Januzajs want.
We’ll have to wait and see what actually happens when (it doesn’t seem to be an ‘if’ situation anymore) a transfer takes place.
