Should Manchester City actually sign Bruno Fernandes this summer then their denial of interest to the media will go down as a big elaborate ruse.

The Portuguese media have been covering interest for a while, and there had been suspicions they were doing so because Sporting were pushing out fake Manchester City information, hoping to push the midfielder’s price up.

It would have been thought a denial would kill all the claims, but still they continue.

Sunday’s edition of O Jogo reports Bruno said goodbye to Sporting’s home fans on Saturday, and it all started so well.

Before the match he picked up his trophy for being the best player in Portugal last month, and six minutes into the match he’d already scored.

Then a teammate was sent off and Sporting had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Tondela.

O Jogo say that when Bruno scored all his teammates piled on him, suggesting ‘they know’ that a transfer is happening. Manchester City are the only club named in this report as a potential destination, there’s no room for their city rivals.
