Back in 2020, when Manchester United were negotiating the transfer of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting, some reports from Portugal said Andreas Pereira could be included in the deal.
It was claimed that the Belgian-Brazilian midfielder would potentially move to the Lions on loan, resulting in a little discount for the Portuguese star.
Even though that never happened, with Fernandes joining Manchester United in a straight purchase, Pereira has now confirmed that those negotiations took place.
The information was brought to DAZN Portugal, who this week interviewed a couple of Fulham players. The quotes are relayed by outlet Mais Futebol.
“It was at the time when I was included in the negotiation with Bruno Fernandes and there were negotiations with Sporting, but nothing came of it,” Andreas Pereira told DAZN.
João Palhinha, who was in the same interview, pointed out that Pereira may have had a great time at Sporting: “He doesn’t know what he missed.”
Andreas Pereira still ended up leaving Manchester United in that transfer window, being sent to a one-year spell to Lazio. When back in England in 2021, he was loaned to Flamengo. It was only in the summer of 2022 that he left the Red Devils for good, being sold to Fulham in a €9.5m deal.
