Everton have seen a late bid for FC Basel’s Dan Ndoye fall by the wayside as he wants to move elsewhere first.

That’s according to journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who says the 22-year-old has turned down the chance to join Everton in favour of going to Bologna.

Di Marzio reports that there is a ‘general agreement’ between Bologna and Basel for the right-winger, who will be moving to Italy in a €9m deal, with €2m in bonuses included.

The Italian side have sent an official offer to Basel for Ndoye, who has approved the transfer and is keen to work under Thiago Motta.

Everton had tried to insert themselves into the matter yesterday, making a late bid to try and beat Bologna to the signing as they continue their efforts to rebuild their own forward line.

The move was rejected by Ndoye, though, as he would prefer to make an ‘intermediate step’ at this point in his career and then head to the Premier League further down the line. He sees Bologna as such a step.

He and Bologna are now waiting for the final okay from Basel to complete deal, while Everton will seemingly need to look elsewhere for a new right winger.
