Brighton & Hove Albion have burned competition from Fulham in the race for Fiorentina defender Igor Julio. The Seagulls have already taken the necessary steps to carry out his signing this summer.

On Tuesday, FirenzeViola.it reported Brighton have resolved the details of the contract with the 25-year-old but there was still a distance with the Serie A side over a transfer fee.

Il Tirreno, a newspaper local to the Italian club, now states the centre-back is ‘ready to move’ to Brighton and has a contract until 2027 ready for him at The Amex.

It’s further explained that Fiorentina will earn €17m from the Brazilian’s impending sale to Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Igor has started pre-season training under Vincenzo Italiano’s orders but the report says he has his ‘suitcase already packed’ to make a switch to Brighton in this window. Il Tirreno add ‘very few details’ are missing for the transfer to take shape.

There’s no mention of what these details are but Brighton and Fiorentina are expected to sort this out because the outlet states they are ‘certain’ that the South American will end up at the Premier League side.
