Al Rayyan are offering James Rodriguez around the world for €4m, just a year after buying him from Everton for double that.

That’s according to Las 2 Orillas, who say the midfielder is ‘no longer worth anything’ after a year in Qatar.

The Colombian star moved to the country from Everton last year following a season at Goodison Park.

He had joined the Blues on a free transfer from Real Madrid to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti but the manager’s return to the Bernabeu, and the subsequent appointment of Rafa Benitez, saw him shipped off to Al Rayyan.

Reports have varied on the value of that deal, with some stating it was £7.2m but others going much higher than that.

He’s only managed 15 appearances for the Qatari club, though, and while his tally of five goals and seven assists make for good reading, they want rid.

Las 2 Orillas say that his situation is ‘of great concern’ because he has endured a ‘surprising devaluation’ since departing Everton.

The thought was that he would be a ‘top-class star’ in Qatar but instead he has become ‘lost’ in the country.

That’s seen his value drop to €8m but Al-Rayyan are ‘offering him’ for just €4m, even though that would be a ‘very bad deal’ for them.

It means that even the smallest teams, such as those in his native Colombia, have the capacity to bring him back to his homeland if they want to.

That’s unlikely to happen and instead, Sport 24 report he could be on his way to Greece, with Olympiakos working on a deal.

They report that the Greek side are in advanced negotiations over a loan deal that will see them pay part of his €6m wages.

Either way, things have not improved for Rodriguez, who it seems Everton got rid of at the right time.
