Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong remains uninterested in a move to Manchester United this summer, despite them reaching an agreement for his transfer.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Dutchman ‘does not want to play for Manchester United’ and would prefer to go to Bayern Munich.
They explain that the midfielder is living his most complicated moment at Barcelona as he is aware the club wants him to leave.
Manchester United are pushing to secure his signature, but he ‘does not look favourably’ on a move to Old Trafford.
He does not like the city of Manchester or the way Manchester United ‘operate’, believing that they have been ‘erratic’ in recent years.
Furthermore, they cannot offer him Champions League football next season.
That is the ‘main handicap’ for United, who are still trying to convince the player to make the switch despite those grievances.
His first choice remains to stay in Barcelona as he loves the city and the club but would not look unfavourably on signing for another big European club such as Bayern Munich.
He is aware that the main offers are coming from the Premier League, but it is not a competition he particularly loves. In fact, he shows a complete ‘disinterest’ in the idea.
For any move to happen, he would still have to reach an agreement with Barcelona over his deferred wages from the pandemic.
Those are yet to be paid to him, but it is ‘an important amount’ that cannot be ignored.
He wants to receive that figure before deciding anything, meaning negotiations about a move anywhere else are falling by the wayside.
