Newcastle United central midfielder Baran Yıldız has told the Turkish media he wants to remain at St James’ Park.
The 18-year-old signed for the Premier League side from Gençlerbirligi during the last transfer window, but it was expected he would be loaned out to a Turkish club this summer.
Speaking to Fanatik, Yıldız was asked about his expectations going into next season and if he would be loaned out by Newcastle United.
The youngster said he wants to remain with the English side for the time being and that he wants to experience the Premier League with all the great players there.
“I have no intention of returning to Turkey for the time being. I don’t want to leave if I get an offer, not only from Turkey but also from anywhere in the world. This is the best league in the world, I want to stay here. I want to play against Bruno Fernandes and Odegaard from Manchester United. They are both top-tier players. I want to meet them,” said the youngster.
Yıldız has yet to play senior football and this season he was involved with Gençlerbirligi’s U19s team. In total he played 27 games across all the Turkish side’s age groups, scoring seven goals.
However, it seems unlikely he will break into Newcastle United’s first team ahead of the next campaign and a loan move this summer could give him much needed first team football, even if he’s currently got stars in his eyes.
With fierce competition for places in Eddie Howe’s midfield, Yıldız may have to find a club which can give him game time.
