It’s international break, and that means footballers fly off all around the world and talk to their local media about woes at club level. Given it’s also the end of the season, this is an international break with bells on, and players will feel they can hint a little more freely, and the media will ask stronger questions about transfers.

In Austria, Kevin Wimmer is likely to be chased for comment on his Tottenham situation and a possible exit from the club. Not likely one to kick and scream, whine to the Austrian media, and then say it was all lost in translation, Wimmer will mostly rely on the media to build his case for him.

And it’s not difficult.

Kleine Zeitung say Wimmer is ‘not exactly enthusiastic’ about his role under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham. There’s said to be Premier League interest, but Tottenham want at least €10m, which likely rules out former club FC Koln.

Wimmer’s lack of enthusiasm will almost certainly be down to a decrease in time on the pitch. In the 2014/15 season, Wimmer notched up 2880 Bundesliga minutes. In the 2015/16 season, with Tottenham, Wimmer totalled 813 Premier League minutes.

Last season it was 357.
