Given the long list of players frequently in and out of Watford, it can sometimes be easy to lose track or simply forget about certain ones. Obbi Oulare probably falls into that category.

The Belgian forward originally joined Watford in a £7.41m deal from Club Brugge back in 2015 but never got his chance at Vicarage Road, making just three appearances for the club in total.

Instead, he spent most of his time with the club out on loan, with spells at Zulte Waregem, Willem II, Royal Antwerp and Standard Liege, the latter of whom he joined on a permanent deal back in 2019.

In hindsight, his move to Watford was a complete disaster, and that’s what Het Laatste Nieuws say today when looking at the player’s career so far.

They say it’s ‘not too late’ for Oulare, who is still only 24-years-old, with Standard still hopeful they can get the best out of him sooner rather than later.

As elsewhere, he’s struggled to hit top form for the Belgian club, with injuries again holding him back.

They’ve been something of a problem for him wherever he’s been after his initial breakthrough with Brugge, and the move to England didn’t help.

HLN say he was ‘a little too young and impatient’ when he joined Watford, describing his time at the club as ‘hopeless’.

That’s seemingly led him on this disappointing path so far, in which injuries and long rehabilitations have left him frustrated and unable to prove his worth at various clubs.

Fortunately, he has time on his side to turn things around, and plenty have certainly done so before him.

For that to happen, he’ll need to focus on the future and not the past, particularly joining the Hornets, which in hindsight is a move he definitely shouldn’t have made.
