Rodrigo Bentancur has preferred Tottenham Hotspur over Aston Villa, ever since the north London club entered the picture to sign him in the winter market.

Spurs’ negotiations with Juventus for the midfielder’s transfer progressed well in the past 48 hours.

On Sunday, we covered claims made by Gianluca Di Marzio that explained the 24-year-old is ‘about to become a Tottenham player’, and the two clubs are ‘exchanging documents’ related to the player’s move to England.

The Uruguay international is currently with the national team, preparing for their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Peru. He featured in his country’s 1-0 win over Paraguay last week.

While with the national team, the former Boca Juniors man has been given time to carry out his Tottenham medical, which he has now completed.

That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who further add Bentancur has ‘already signed his contract’ with Antonio Conte’s side. The South American will join Spurs on a permanent deal and after signing a contract with them until 2026, he is now a ‘Tottenham player’.

Bentancur will be joined Dejan Kulusevski at the new club as the Swede is also set to seal a move to the Premier League side from Juventus.
