Italian outlet Area Napoli today brings an update on the situation of Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who’s been attracting interest from a few clubs this summer.

The website claims to have learned that the goalkeeper wants to leave the Gunners, which has been known for a while, mostly because of his lack of playing time, and there are a couple of clubs who are especially interested in signing him.

Fulham are one of them, as already reported by the English and Italian media, but there isn’t very positive news on that front.

The report claims the Cottagers thought ‘seriously’ about the signing, ‘coming to important figures’ for the transfer. However, since Arsenal ‘kept the valuation high’, at €15m, they haven’t been able to agree a deal.

It’s said Leno is ‘disappointed’ with the failed move to Fulham, but now has another option on the cards, since his entourage also had contacts with men ‘linked’ to Napoli. The Italian club want to understand how possible the move is, as they’ve been interested in him since his time in the Bundesliga.

Since Leno’s contract with Arsenal expires next year, that was a reason Fulham didn’t want to pay the €15m, and it will almost certainly be the same for the Serie A side.
