Florian Grillitsch’s situation is turning into something of a soap opera.

The 26-year-old’s contract with Hoffenheim expired at the end of June, after it became clear he wouldn’t be signing a renewal. Despite having plenty of time to plan for his future, he’s still without a club.

Brighton & Hove Albion were one of several clubs linked over the past week or so, and it was claimed they’d made a wages offer to the free agent. TMW now report that Grillitsch travelled to Brighton on Sunday with the intention of signing a contract with the Premier League club, but there was a surprise when he left without doing so.

It’s claimed there’s been interest from AS Roma and Fiorentina, although there doesn’t seem to be anything concrete with either Italian side at the moment.

Over in Turkey, Haber7 report the player is on the agenda at Galatasaray, and there’s been ‘great progress’ made on the potential signing. Brighton get a mention, with it stated the club withdrew from the race.
