Will they? Won’t they? This has been the debate over the past few months over whether or not Barcelona will activate their buy-back clause for Gerard Deulofeu.

The Everton winger, who spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, is currently with the Spain U21 side for the U21 Euros, where he spoke to Mundo Deportivo about various things.

Asked about how he’s evolved as a player over the past few years since bursting onto the scene as youngster at Barcelona, Deulofeu explained he was ‘more mature, more patient’ and that leaving Spain helped him gain much welcomed experience as a footballer.

As for his future, he said: “I want to conquer the world, always go higher. I’m very happy with my time in Milan where I was happy, which is what I was looking for. For now, we need to show everything we know on the pitch”.

Fully focused on the task at hand, the Everton forward doesn’t seem too preoccupied about all the talk going on around him.

Of course, that isn’t the case behind the scenes, as Barcelona only have until the 30th of June to activate the buy-back clause, and made it clear they want him back.

If Deulofeu decides against a return home, then Everton and Ronald Koeman will likely need to find him another club, as the Dutch manager made it clear last season he didn’t exactly trust the Spaniard.
