When Atlético Madrid’s transfer ban was upheld, the odds of Sandro joining Everton certainly improved.

Keen to join Diego Simeone, the Malaga forward saw his chances of doing so drop considerably, needing to either wait until January before getting the move sorted or signing immediately and lingering with the reserves until the club could register him for their first-team.

This is why, over the past few days, claims that Sandro would be moving to Goodison Park began to grow, as he would get to play straight away with the Toffees and would still be getting his pay rise, with Malaga pocketing the €6m from his release clause.

However, if a move to Everton is in the works, the player isn’t aware of it, as he told El Mundo when the Spanish newspaper interviewed him on Tuesday, with the player currently with the Spain U21 side at their Euros.

When asked about the move, he said: “I don’t know anything. I’m focused on the Euros”.

Of course, the forward could just be playing it safe, especially since his agent was spotted having a chat with Ronald Koeman not so long ago, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he was telling the truth, and his representatives were allowing him to focus on his football until the end of the tournament.

Maybe when it’s over, they’ll have a really nice surprise for him.
