Brighton & Hove Albion’s Leandro Trossard is a ‘dream’ target for Chelsea, according to Voetbal Nieuws.
Last week, the Blues sacked Thomas Tuchel and appointed Graham Potter as his successor.
Trossard played under Potter at Brighton, and, according to the claims, the new Chelsea manager wants to reunite with his former star at Stamford Bridge. The coach was instrumental in the 27-year-old’s decision to pick the Seagulls in 2019.
Earlier this year, the Belgium international said he is ready to take a big step in his career. Having developed into a valuable player under Potter, the report states the latter may sign him for the Blues in January.
Voetbal Nieuws state the time seems to have come for the former Genk man to take the step to an absolute top club in his career.
Potter moved Trossard from a central role to a wingback at Brighton this term. The 47-year-old has recognised the Belgian can be ideal as an inverted wingback in a 3-5-2/3-4-3 formation and this is the system he wants to continue at Chelsea.
It makes the option to bring the player to Chelsea ‘very interesting’ and ‘not far-fetched’ for Potter. Trossard’s deal expires in 2023 and Brighton have an option to extended it by a further year. The report adds he is ‘open to a transfer’ to a top club like Chelsea.
