Brighton & Hove Albion have defeated Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the league since March’s international break.
Leandro Trossard starred in these fixtures by scoring in each match. On Saturday, Graham Potter saw his side seal a comfortable 4-0 win over the Red Devils at the Amex.
The Brighton & Hove Albion star not only got his name on the scoresheet but managed to register two assists in his side’s win over Manchester United.
On Sunday, Het Belang van Limburg got in touch with the Belgium international to discuss his recent good form for Potter’s side.
“I have now scored against all the top clubs, the big six [Manchester City, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham]. It’s not that I target those matches against the top clubs, but then I just get a little more space. If it were up to me, I would put one into the net every week, but I don’t always get that extra space,” he said.
The player also detailed the mood inside Brighton’s dressing room after beating United at home.
“It was one big party after that 4-0 [win]. I have withdrawn to my home with family and friends for a quiet evening, but this was a wonderful feeling,” the player explained.
“We have nothing to gain or lose with Brighton this season but beating one of the biggest European clubs at home with these figures… (laughs) That is indeed nice to tell my kids about later. The fans in and around the stadium were absolutely thrilled. That’s what you do it for.”
Trossard, who has eight goals and three assists to his name in the league, has a contract until 2023. When talking about his chances of representing his country at the Qatar World Cup, he also mentioned his own future at club level.
“But then the national team is waiting again. There is not much vacation. Of course, the World Cup in Qatar beckons. I think I’ve proven that I belong. But I don’t have a crystal ball,” Trossard stressed.
“That also applies to my future. I still have a contract with Brighton until the summer of 2023.
“Will the big six come knocking for me at Brighton? We will see. If I really feel ready for that step up, I’ll get into it, but I realise every day I’m not bad at Brighton.”
