Now announced as Chelsea’s newest signing, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still gets lots of appreciation at Barcelona.

It’s fair to say that despite his short stay at the Catalan side, he did well there.

Following a free move from Arsenal in January this year, the striker had 13 goals in 23 appearances, and finished the season with the sensation of a job done at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona needed to get rid of several players in the summer window, and Aubameyang ended up being one of them.

With his move to Chelsea now concluded, club manager Xavi spoke about the transfer in a press conference, and made it clear that there’s gratitude for the time the player spent there.

“With Aubameyang I feel sorry because he helped us a lot on and off the pitch. He’s a wonder. It’s a pity he is leaving, but it’s an opportunity for him and for the club. Everyone has been satisfied, but I feel sorry. He has been an example,” said Xavi (via Mundo Deportivo).

Now at Chelsea, Aubameyang is set to take the place of Timo Werner, who left the Blues on a move back to RB Leipzig on a €20m deal this summer.

Thomas Tuchel’s side currently stand in 10th place on the Premier League table, and have a chance to gain a few positions if they can pull off a win in Saturday’s London derby against West Ham.
