Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder has admitted he was not happy with Antony’s behaviour to force through a move to Manchester United.

The Brazilian completed his move to Old Trafford earlier this week, signing in a €95m deal following weeks of speculation about his future.

He’s reunited with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, hoping that the development he enjoyed under the Dutchman can continue in the Premier League.

The focus now is on getting back to playing, with the transfer situation around having become a messy one to say the least.

Ajax were consistently unwilling to do a deal with Manchester United but were eventually forced to when Antony went on strike, refusing to train in an attempt to force the Dutch giants into a sale.

It was a tactic that worked but much to the disappointment of Ajax boss Schreuder, who has continued to criticise the Brazilian for the way he handled himself.

“We can look back on a nice transfer window,” Soccer Niuews report him saying.

“I was personally not happy with the departure of Antony; I wanted a replacement. That worked out with Ocampos, and we are all very happy with that. The group is strong with that.

“I wasn’t happy with him not playing and training. He knows from me that I don’t approve of that.

“With Kudus that was done in consultation, only the second time he missed a training session he did so on his own.

“With Alvarez there was something going on around him on the last day, so it is logical that something happens to a boy like that. Then we agreed that he wouldn’t train that day.”
