Obviously, it’s no surprise Erling Haaland has been a success in the Premier League. He was successful at Borussia Dortmund, and with Manchester City he arrived at a club where endless goalscoring chances are made.

However, he’s somehow managed to surpass expectations.

Manchester United could do with a striker in the same mould, and have repeatedly been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. There’s been recent claims of the Red Devils scouting the player, and the links go back quite some way.

Italian journalist Tom Colomosse has now hyped Osimhen’s level, and suggested he may even be as good as the Manchester City player.

Quoted by Napoli Magazine, he said: “Manchester United also need a pure centre-forward up front, and with Haaland in the same city, the need to put a star in the squad has increased. After Haaland, Osimhen is the best and perhaps they are on the same level.

“The problem is the cost, Napoli know how to sell well. I think the will of the player will have an impact. When I interviewed Osimhen, seven days before he got the the trophy, when I asked him about the Premier he dribbled the subject a bit, maybe someone suggested he keep quiet about certain things since there was a Scudetto to win.”

That Scudetto was won and the achievement will mean Napoli feel they can ask the top price for their stars. Other reports in Italy have credited Chelsea with interest, but it’s been insisted that Osimhen wants Champions League football next season.

That would rule Chelsea out, and Manchester United will be confident they can secure qualification.
