Kemar Roofe’s high boot into the face of a Slavia Prague player has made the football news around the world.

The images of the Rangers player’s boot, and the subsequent damager caused, have been shared countless times in traditional and social media.

Steven Gerrard’s side lost the match, sending Rangers crashing out of the Europa League, after a glorious couple of weeks for the Glasgow club which saw them become Scottish Premiership champions.

The kick, as many see it, from Kemar Roofe, has managed to annoy a journalist all the way over in Spain. Catalan newspaper Sport feature the Rangers player on their back page, and the journalist says he ‘froze’ when watching Roofe’s boot make contact.

He then adds ‘What most outraged me is the footballer’s reaction’. There’s annoyance that Kemar Roofer raised his hands as a sign of innocence after the event, then that the Rangers player reacted angrily when he saw the red card.

Sport journalist Alex Corretja ends by saying: ‘At no time did he worry about the state of his ‘victim’. He did not approach, or ask… I do not understand what goes through the head of a player like that.’
