RC Lens are eyeing a move for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba after he rejected a new deal at the club.

That’s according to journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, who says there is ‘nothing surprising’ about the player’s rejection of a new contract at the newly-promoted side.

Samba has been a star of the show for Nottingham Forest, particularly in their return to the Premier League, with him playing a key role in their eventual success in the play-offs.

He’s one of the players who will be key to their chances of avoiding the drop next season, and the club are keen to keep him if they can.

That could prove to be difficult, though, as Samba’s contract is set to expire next summer, and reports in England today have made it clear he’s rejected their latest efforts to sign him to a new deal.

That means Nottingham Forest face the prospect of losing him on a free next year if they cannot find a suitor this summer, should Samba continue to reject contract offers from them.

It seems there is interest, though, with Toubache-Ter reporting that Lens have been ‘on the case for months’ in regards to the player.

According to his information, the Nottingham Forest man is a ‘priority’ signing for the French side, although they still need to find an agreement with Steve Cooper’s side for a transfer to happen.

Samba could be keen on the move, though, as it would allow him to reunite with his former goalkeeping coach Herve Sekli, who he worked alongside at Caen and is set to join Lens this summer.
