Nottingham Forest are unlikely to turn Renan Lodi’s loan move into a permanent one this summer despite an option to do so.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say that ‘everything indicates’ Nottingham Forest are uninterested in keeping the Brazilian beyond the end of the season.

Lodi has been on loan with Forest from Atlético Madrid since the summer, when he was one of numerous signings to arrive in that window.

He’s been a regular since, establishing himself as the first choice left-back in the squad and making 19 appearances in the Premier League so far.

That would suggest Nottingham Forest are happy with him and would like to keep him on a permanent basis but Estadio say that is not the case.

They cover the impending business at Atlético, explaining that the Spanish side have a ‘clear idea’ of what they want to do with the players currently out on loan.

Their plan is to sell Lodi, which has already been made clear, but that seems to have become ‘more complicated’ than expected as for the moment, Nottingham Forest ‘will not exercise their option’ to buy him.

Why that is the case isn’t mentioned, just the fact that it won’t be happening and Lodi will be returning to Madrid at the end of the season.

Atlético still plan to sell the defender on and get a ‘good amount of money’ for him so they can reinvest it in the squad, but it seems that money will not be coming from the coffers at the City Ground.
