On Friday, ESPN journalist Gustavo Hofman explained Nottingham Forest are in talks with Atlético Madrid over a deal for Renan Lodi.

This is backed up by Marca on Saturday, who state the Tricky Trees are now negotiating with the La Liga side to sign the left-back on loan.

Los Rojiblancos were initially inflexible and demanding €40m, when several other clubs approached them for the 24-year-old. They had also refused to let him go out on loan.

The Spanish giants’ have now changed their stance.

After Atlético set a €5m loan fee, the newspaper adds a €30m purchase option is being negotiated with the Premier League side.

The negotiations between the two clubs are on the right track, but there are still ‘other matters to be closed’ to finalise the operation. Marca doesn’t specify what those ‘other matters’ are.

‘There is confidence’ the deal will go through and the next few hours will be key to resolve the last details of the deal.

Marca state the Brazil international is living his ‘last hours’ as the Atlético player.

Over at AS, they state Nottingham Forest have ‘already submitted a proposal’ to Atlético to sign Lodi on a loan deal.

Prior to letting the South American join Steve Cooper’s side, the Madrid club want to secure his replacement first.

This is where Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilón could fit in and he could take Lodi’s place at the Metropolitano.
