Newcastle United have emerged as a candidate to sign Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos in the winter market, according to Fichajes.net.

Back in June, the midfielder signed a new contract, which lasts until 2027, and his decision to extend the deal hasn’t paid off yet. He’s been restricted to 73 minutes of action from four games since returning from injury in September.

The 27-year-old hasn’t enjoyed regular minutes, but the La Liga side consider him to be an essential part of their squad.

His situation in Madrid has caught Newcastle’s attention, at a time when there’s uncertainty around Sandro Tonali due to the sports betting allegations. The doubts with the former AC Milan star’s situation have seen the Magpies show interest in Ceballos.

The report adds Eddie Howe’s side are willing to make a €20m bid to secure his services. There’s belief the Spain international could have more game time at St James’ Park which is why the report states Newcastle could be a ‘viable option’ for him in January.

Ceballos knows the Premier League well as he was on loan at Arsenal between 2019 and 2021.

Fichajes.net focuses on Newcastle’s desire to sign the player, without mentioning if Real Madrid or the player are in favour of this operation.
