Newcastle United are scheduled to play their final Premier League game of the season a month from now, and after that the work for summer signings can get more serious.

There’s several players who the Magpies were linked to during the January market, who they are now expected to return for given their status in the top division looks pretty safe.

One of the men involved is Victor Osimhen, and hype around the Napoli player is growing by the day. He’s scored four goals over his past two Serie A matches, against Hellas Verona and Udinese, and that takes him to 11 for the season.

Those aren’t sensational statistics, but the 23-year-old missed eight games due to a serious cheekbone fracture, and then had to be eased back in.

Gazzetta dello Sport report Newcastle United ‘knocked’ on the door for Osimhen in the winter market, and will be ‘sure’ to return for the player in the next window.

Napoli, secure in their position of having the player on a contract until June 2025, will ask for €100m and aren’t overly keen on a sale anyway. They feel they can keep their asset, enjoy him next summer, and then get potentially an even better fee.

It’s Newcastle’s job to tempt them into a sale.
