Despite claims that Newcastle United are out of the race for Paulo Dybala, there are some in the Italian media who feel the Magpies haven’t said their last word in the matter.

Earlier on Wednesday, we covered a report from Gazzetta dello Sport that stated the Argentine had turned down the chance to join both Arsenal and the Magpies.

However, Calciomercato.it see it differently, writing that contacts have indeed taken place with Newcastle, but those didn’t appear to be fruitful.

That being said, it’s pointed out Eddie Howe’s side ‘could try again in a few weeks’.

The problem with all that is Inter are closing in, and are doing so fast, meaning that leaving it that long will probably see Newcastle miss out in the Argentina international entirely.

Not only that, but the player’s agent was spotted at Inter’s headquarters and when asked about whether he was optimistic about a move to the Serie A side for his client, he simply answered ‘yes’.

This means Newcastle need to act quickly if they want to give it one final go.
